In my experience it saves to the cards, and my character/cars/story progress are all saved and usable next time I play. I think the cards have chips in them that holds data.

QQ are you saying the ringedge/software is bootleg, or the entire setup? And if it's the software, how do you actually tell (I'm just curious)

Requesting pictures of the rear of your stage 8 arcade, specifically around the marquee. I'm curious how the light box is mounted to the machine. The initial D stage 6 I have didn't have a topper/marquee and I bought a stage 8 marquee/art set from coinopexpress (couldn't find any other marquees...

Taobao might be the move, thanks for that. Although it's sort of deceiving, Taobao and Aliexpress always trick you, they show the lowest priced item of the available options. $8 is for a stage 6 card, the stage 8 card is $20, which you only see after trying to add to cart. Resurrecting this thread. Was the concensus that Initial D 4 export cards WON'T work in stage 5-8 arcade machines? Asking as ID4 export cards seem to be the only obtainable options at the moment, and I have an ID6 arcade - and I'm in need of some cards... After reading this thread it wasn't...

I recently acquired a stage 6 machine and I'm hoping to be able to switch to stage 7 and 8 somewhere down the road. Are the other ringedges w/ security key the only thing I'll need to upgrade to the other stages? I'm fairly positive the answer is yes for stage 7, but stage 8 has the separate...

I'm on the hunt for driver/license cards: stage 4 (JP version) thru 8. My machine is a stage 7 but looking for stage 4/5/6/7/8 cards if you have them.
