I have a very big difficulty to convert my Final fight US CPS1 into Japanese ?(



I tried different methode nothing works properly :S






i Change EPROM FF36, FF37, FF42, FF43 it does not work X/ Final Fight (Japan 900613) with Intel 27C010 EPROM



i Convert the Mask Rom FF-1M ,FF-3M,FF-5M,FF-7M in compiled with AMD 27C400 EPROM it does not work I have graphic stripes X/ .

The US version and Japanese version have different C-board ASICs. You cannot simply burn some ROMs and expect it work.

You can see it from the MAME source code...

Your C-Board PPU is CPS-B-04 and according to MAME you are trying to run a Japan set which is compatible with CPS-B-05

I cannot comment on your prepared custom sets though.

Lastly, did your US version working properly before your conversion attempt?
 
How much do the PALs effect things? I imagine C-Board PPU and both PALs need corresponding code matches?
 
I didn't do this conversion actually. So all the information I mention must be taken "hypothetically" :)

B-board PALs are for ROM addressing.

According to MAME, all FF revisions seem to use the same Gfx ROM PAL => S224B so no change needed there. However, you have to burn a new GAL instead of PAL IOB1. Your Japanese ROM set seems requires LWIO.

Lastly, you have to have either a modified program ROM set for CPS-B-04 PPU or you have to find a C-Board with CPS-B-05 PPU.
 
First I would try the Japan program roms (no date version). But warning: Final Fight is one of the only (maybe the only) CPS1 game where the original release program version seems to require the old long style A board. If it doesn't work and you have one of the long A boards I would try that.
 
@Muchi Muchi Spork we'll spotted. I think he should try one step at a time.

First try a game that works with same C board. Once that works try another game with different C board. Then move to final fight as this game seems tricky.

I'm moving this into the cps1 section.
 
If you want to turn your Usa FF into Japan version, you need to burn all ep-rom (not 9,18,19,32).
The 128ko roms of the japan set need to be concatened to 512k.(my zip send to you). No need to burn an other pal/gal.

USA/WORLD Board need 27c400 or 27c4000 for burning code and remove mask rom.
You have just burn the program code for b_05 ppu..... use the first version with same ppu (b_04) : Final Fight (Japan)
