Hi everyone, I’m having a problem with a Neo Geo MVS board, model MV1B. The board is showing graphic issues and also has no sound output at all when running games. The symptoms include:
I’ve tested multiple cartridges to rule out bad carts, and the issues remain the same.
My main suspicion is the cartridge slot connector — it might be dirty, oxidized, have cold solder joints, or damaged pins.
I’m looking for a way to test the cartridge connector slot, or any method to confirm if the issue really comes from that part of the board. If anyone has a schematic, multimeter test points, or a technique to verify the connector, I’d really appreciate it!
Has anyone had a similar issue on this model?
Is it worth trying to repair the slot, or is replacement the best option?
Could the sound and graphic issues be related to the same root cause?

- Visual glitches (random lines or blocks on screen)
- Corrupted or misaligned graphics
- Sometimes the game loads partially, and the rest of the screen becomes unreadable
- No audio at all – not even background music or sound effects

My main suspicion is the cartridge slot connector — it might be dirty, oxidized, have cold solder joints, or damaged pins.
