MVS 1-Slot Cocktail (Atari Space Dual Conversion)

Soooo, @Chron was up at MGC and stopped in to check out the auction and spotted something for me!!

Backstory, huge MVS fan. Huge table fan.

Turned out it belonged to the auctioneer. I ended up getting it for 125$ which shocked a lot of people. I guess he was not very happy about the selling price

He was coming down to pick up cabs from my last group buy and brought it down for me!!

What it used to look like,

This was very annoying to get off. Even with goo off soaked in, took a bit of work.

Did have a lot of good stuff hiding inside. OG Documentation.

Stripped back all the smooth t-molding and replaced it with this textured stuff

Grabbed the only SNK art I could find and threw those in there

So the instruction cards are not peeled. I used some light painters tape on the rears of all of this stuff to elevate it, so the glass would hold it down.

Folded to make these little ridges for the glass to bite into. Also plugged all the holes with felts. They used some thin black stickers before, which the other side has.

Working on some interior stuff last night and looks like they have the monitor frame in backwards, so that's fun!

Did find the remote adjustment board down there on a super long ribbon.

All I can see of the tube,

Pulled the motherboard and got the battery out. Looks like it was just starting to make it's way down to the via.

Swapped with a coin cell holder. That aside, this thing is super clean.

Pulled the old AC fan and swapped with a DC fan, replaced the speaker for no reason other then to load this driver into something.

Ended up swapping the 6x9 back in because it had a nice funky crunch to it that I really like. Sounds more like a Pizza Hut..

But is this the board with a filter, speaker and fan! Cabinet is actually a really cool design.

Going to get some of the red square side art for this next. Replace buttons next I think. We'll see where it goes, but as it stands, not bad.

Also going to swap the PSU that was in there for the conversion. Still has the tags from the company who did it, dated 1990. No pic of that sticker yet, hard to get to..

Got a couple of those power supplies dumped on me at work since they were way out of spec on the +28V.

Only +12V and +5V are adjustable.

But locks right in for what I need.

Something I'm on the hunt for is this paper bezel. If anyone has suggestions on this stuff.. Pic swiped from an ebay auction.

whoever stripped the space dual guts out of it deserves to be hit by a truck!
it's pretty rare compared to raster based coctail cabs
