Hey Everyone, been lurking in these forums for a while but thought I'd post my progress (I also shared on FB). I picked up this Vewlix a few months ago. They rarely come up for sale in Canada and this was only a 2.5hr drive away so I jumped on it not really knowing what I was getting into. It appears to be an original Vewlix F body but Frankenstein'd together with other original parts. The control panel had black sides (Vewlix L maybe?), and the screen is a 1080p model from a Diamond Black.

Anyway when I got it, it needed some TLC. Seems like half the screws were missing. The locks didn't fit, the control panel locking bar and glass grips were missing. The top marquee was just plain black plexi. The plastic sides were painted again (the undersides were really yellowed). The original I/O was missing. The whole left side audio wasn't working.

So I started bringing it back to life.

Found that the top left speaker was shot which also takes out the bottom speaker too because of the way it's wired. Replaced both top speakers and everything was working again.

Next was the back fans which sounded like jet engines. Replaced them with a pair is Nocturas (SO much better!).

Added a lights is the move strip (COB LEDs)

Next was the plastic trim. Doubting my painting skills I went for vinyl wrap. I've always liked the Diamond Black version so I went with a grey color but used a metallic finish, I really like how it turned out. So much so that I wrapped my candy machine to match.

Next was the marquee - ordered a Diamond Black (ish) replacement from Chino Chan on FB.

The original control panel was ok but I wanted a 2-player CP so ordered an Alberto panel. Since I've ordered from Alberto (Y.T.) before I asked if he could repro the missing glass grips for the move strip and he did a fantastic job. Also got new Sanwa buttons and used the Qanba Prizm balltops since the angles seem to match nicely with the Vewlix design.

(Cont'd in next post)

To go along with the new control panel, sourced a new I/O metal tray, locking bar (again thanks to the AP forums), a Hadouken Arcade I/O board and 2x Brook UFB Fusions. Also a new 2P "K harness". I made some JST connectors for buttons 7 and 8.

I converted the Nesica panel to use NFC for Zaparoo (so I can load games by tapping a card).

Replaced all locks with original "First" branded locks, and replaced all missing screws.

Using a PC with a 3060ti and Steam "Big Picture" mode. So far it's played everything I've thrown at it with all settings maxed (since the screen is only 1080p, I think this GPU should be fine).

I have a sub panel ready to go, just waiting for the wires.

Anyway, thought I'd share! Let me know if you guys have any questions that I can help with.

Looks good! How did you set up the card reader to swap games? Seems like that alone is a cool project.

If you use emulators at all you can use Launchbox-Bigbox to integrate everything including steam into one front end. I have mame, teknoparrot, steam and individual game exes launch from bigbox with custom AHK scripts, screen flip, shaderglass, etc.
