Heya!

If I measured a cps3 battery, how low would death be? I couldn’t find an answer anywhere. 3.3 is where it needs to be? Or does it allow for some wiggle room? To check on a multimeter, what setting would it have to be at? There is a dial with soooo many options. Thanks for the help!

Here’s my multimeter

Set it to the 20V selection (3 turns to the left from the multimeter’s current dial position). Battery should typically read 3.67v. I’ve seen some carts have a 3V battery (something like 3.1v when measured).

Thank you! Trying this after dinner :)

Yes seems so becuase it worked just fine the other week but it was its time to pass. Goodbye old friend 🕊️ my job is super demanding and I haven’t been taking care of the games. Gotta check my cps2 games as well.

Clip that battery off before it leaks :) CPS3 (even with a flat battery) are huge $$$ these days, better safe than sorry

Your general steps to multi are
1) replace stock bios on security cart with darksoft ultrabios
2) acquire 2 x 64mb and 4 x 128mb SIMMS OR set of darksoft ultrasimms
3) burn the darksoft ISO to CD/ODE OR program the ultrasimms
Done!

There is quite a level of detail around each step, lots of good resources in the “CPS3” forums. Feel free to ask questions.

Just to clarify something since I might be getting confused by some of the discussion here - the minimum viable voltage is 3.0V, but a lot of the time the carts come with 3.6V batteries... is that right?

It's also worth noting that you could get carts with batteries reading full voltage that are completely dead. Just the unfortunate reality of dealing with this platform. I've only found batteries below 3.0V a few times, and those were already well on their way to exploding...

Cool! I do have the cps3 board with the original ram chips that make third strike run. So all I need to do is get a darksoft ultrabios. How do I aquire one? Thanks
