Hi.

I got a few crates of arcade PCBs to repair. I got most of them working, but this one is a little more challenging as it's missing all of its ROMs. OK I could desolder the three 32 byte Color PROMs and check if Romident has them, but I don't wanna risk damaging them.

So... the only board markings are BE-070, BE071, SWELT8639B (which I bet is not much more than a date code) and pretty much every single IC type is silkscreened on (very helpful indeed. ROM checksums next time please :-P).
(and yes, I will replace the ROM sockets before installing them if someone knows what hardware this is).
So we got two Z80s, 8k main CPU RAM, 2k sound CPU RAM, Yamaha 3526, there's a 2k RAM chip next to the main CPU which probably has to do with video, the sub board has at least 3k of fast RAM which is certainly video.

I'd be surprised if it's not a bootleg.

On a slightly related note (LOW PRIORITY!), I have a Technos WWF Wrestlefest bootleg board that has a daughterboard with a single square IC and a suicide battery. The IC tries to output over the video address bus (massively corrupting the graphics) and the battery is dead (0.1V)
I managed to find a picture of this bootleg board, but its daughterboard is more involved with what looks like a bunch of glue logic and four PALs.

Does anyone have a clue on how to revive this thing?
Otherwise I would salvage it to fix other boards. There are quite a few components I'm running out of or low on and only very few PALs (many are GALs and can be erased) and mask ROMs, so I can recycle like >85% of this board.
(btw. if I remove the daughterboard, the game works with no background graphics)

pcb is a bootleg.

dont trash the wrestlefest, maybe we can patch the roms or something.

UFO Robo Dangar appears to match 100%. I'll let you know if it works. First, I have to get my programmer back (lent), then I have to burn a couple dozen ROMs. Then I have to replace a ton of super dirty sockets. And then we'll see if she runs.

Anything else running on that hardware? I always like multi arcades with no emulator...

if the roms are pulled, chances are it had a fault first

Aaaand it just works.
At least on the bench. I'll have to make an adapter, but it's running, I have a video image, it looks like there's no problems, it passes the self test, I can coin up and it reacts to at least some controls (yeah playing by sliding an alligator clip across the edge connector), I could at least coin up, start a game, fire and move left. Couldn't find right yet, I always get shot right at the beginning...
Dunno if sound works as I don't have 12V hooked up. The sound CPU data BUS does look like an ordered timed endless loop to me, similar to what's on pretty much every sound CPU I've seen so far (wait for VBlank, check if there's anything to do, going through lists, nothing here, wait for VBlank, repeat, with the pattern changing a bit when playing a game). There isn't much left that can go wrong.

Tested it in the machine, works perfectly (although those dinosaurs sound like motorcycles). But to my surprise a colleague from the museum knew the game well and told me that it's working exactly as it should. Heck even cocktail mode works.
