What's up everyone, listing my grail cab up for sale. I've got some big plans in the works so need to free up space and funds. This has been in my collection for quite a few years and has felt many 1ccs in my hands, but now it's time for it to find a new loving home.

This cab needs no introduction, so let's get to it!

The good:
Clean, unmolested survivor
Crisp and bright CRT monitor, no noticeable burn
Rotate mechanism intact and functional
Original Taito power supply
Original jamma loom with F3 stereo connector
"Egret 2" marquee in good shape with functional light
Includes upper flyer marquee
New Seimitsu LS-32 sticks and Sanwa buttons
Includes all locks, coin box, coin mech, etc.
Official Taito ashtray included!

The less good things:
Has a Toshiba R-1781 chassis (it came with this when I got it. Could be easily swapped for MS-9, I just haven't felt the need to)
Included key is a duplicate (not original Taito)
Missing 100yen sticker (many repros available)
Has some body wear that has been touched up here and there.
Other assorted wear on the monitor bezel, speaker grills, etc. We're talking about a 30 year old cab here.
PCB mounting board showing wear and dirt

Prices are all over the map for this thing.

I'll list it at $6000USD $5500USD but completely open to discussion and offers of all kind.

Location: I am located on a small island off the coast of Vancouver, Canada. I can get the cab to Vancouver Island (Victoria or anywhere else) or to Vancouver if needed, or am happy to coordinate someone coming to my island to check it out in person. Happy to negotiate ferry costs for serious buyers.

I've never shipped a cab before, so not eager to dive down that path. But if you want to coordinate with the shipping company I'm happy to do anything I can to help without leaving my property.

Only trades I'm looking for are cash or an abandoned house in Japan (not joking).

Any questions or requests for additional photos or videos, please ask! Hoping I don't r-egret this decision :D

Is it me or is the PSU in your photo missing its cover? Let us know if the chassis and PSU has been recapped/serviced or not. Information is crucial for a big time sale like this :)
You are correct, it looks like it is. I didn't realize it's supposed to have a cover, thanks for pointing it out.

The chassis and PSU have not been recapped since the cab has been in my possession. I basically wiped it down and swapped out the controls and then played it.

As I said my price is a starting point for discussion, since I couldn't find any sales data within the last year. Happy to have knowledgeable folks like you around!

Beautiful bird!

I haven’t seen or heard of anyone selling one in at least a couple years, so for informational/reference purposes I’m interested in what price this eventually goes for. And while I’ve always wanted one, the logical side of me says pick up another NAC for $2k shipped to my door and just have one set up TATE and one set up YOKO.

GLWS and thanks again for that F3 shell you sold me a couple weeks back!

Thanks dude!

not all psu have a cover on them
Thanks for chiming in!

I have my own thoughts on the price of this, but it would be great if you follow up and let us know exactly what it sells for.
No doubt we all have thoughts on the price of this, but until there is a public sale that's about all we can work with at the moment.

Happy to share the sale price publicly if/when it sells. I have a feeling my location may influence it.

I was really surprised how nice the tubes were in the Yaton buy. Shame about most of the rest of those containers. I didn't know any of them arrived with a Toshiba chassis though, that's interesting. Are you sure the yoke tolerances for the Toshiba are the same as an MS9? If not, it may not be so easy to swap in the original chassis.

Edit: Actually, they're probably /really/ not the same. That number is the remote board for a Toshiba out of a Windy. So it's... tri-sync? Is it the right curvature? Hard to tell with the pics, but it looks like it pulls away from the bezel on the bottom.

Looks like you got one of the better ones in the lot, but most were pretty thrashed, or not remotely working.

You could spot that this is one from that lot from a mile away from the distinct yellowed white overspray.

What's up rewrite. I don't know the tech specs about the monitor other than that code was screenprinted on the bottom of the chassis. I'm happy to grab more pics in the morning to help clarify.

To all:
Here's the full backstory on this cab. I was (am) good friends with @XeD and happened to be neighbors with him for a number of years. I had helped him with some other local cab buys. I wasn't involved with the Yaton container but still bought a cab from the deal. Since I was local I was able to pick the cab out myself, hence this one is one of the nicer examples from the bunch. I heard there were issues with the other containers in that deal, but I wasn't privy to that drama until later on.

I'm just a guy who's reluctantly parting with his collection so he can get his family a house to live in. I don't know the actual price of an Egret 2 in this day and age because nobody does, so make an offer.

If anyone is looking to pick up an Egret 2, this is an option. Yes it's a Yaton cab but a decent one that's been cared for and very gently used. I'm happy to provide video proof, zoom calls, or some co-op shmup action to anyone that is interested in checking it out and maybe adding it to their collection.

The number you gave is for the remote board.

I am curious if the bezel sits flush the full way around because in a few pics it doesn't seem to. Which may be even more of a concern for a potential buyer if they need to find a different tube as well as yoke and chassis to bring it back to original spec.

Quite a few of us have bought/sold E2's in the past year, and I'm pretty sure most have an idea what the ballpark for a decent working original cab is. Which is why I think it may be important to nail down some of these oddball questions so any buyer who may be shipping and not seeing it in person first knows what they're getting into. Especially at your asking price. Nothing worse than a buyer asking for a partial refund or demanding you ship the cab back on your dime because something was amiss. There are (for better or for worse) a lot of green buyers with deep pockets who expect a lot out of a seller nowadays.

And just in case you didn't notice: it looks like the monitor isn't secured? It's tilted some 10-15 degrees clockwise. Or I guess maybe the yoke could be spun a bit. But if it isn't secured and you roll it around like that you may end up snapping the neck and then there won't be an E2 or a new house for anyone!

All that said, I'm rooting for your family getting a house. Just the devil is in the details when it comes to these things, especially when you're asking top dollar (which PS, maybe give it a wipe down, you gotta take the car to the car wash before selling it to the dealer to get a few bucks more).

I'm very interested in this toshiba chassis- any pictures of the chassis and or remote board would be very helpful. Information about toshiba chassis is few and far between.

PM me if you're willing to ship. Located in Arkansas. Can also drive/meet depending on how far you are.

EDIT: managed to overlook location; I don't think meeting would be an option :P

Hello everyone, I'm the one who bought the egret 2 cab. I also live on vancouver island so it was a easy transaction. I bought it for $5000 cad and picked it up from his house. I've included a pic of the cab in its new home.
