what was the original purpose for this? I thought plasma was only widescreen.
This was intended as a presentation display from back in the day when Powerpoints were still in 4:3 ;)
But it happens to display 240p very well without any inputlag, there is also an older version (PDP-V401), which still rocks with 480p, but 240p/480i is not as good as the PDP-V402

There is also another 40" 4:3 plasma presentation display, Hantarex PD40

LOL

The best part of the trip to Japan was crossing the "nothing to declare" exit door with the huge box with the header over my shoulders.

These are great displays
I have one myself
there's also the Hantarex version which doesn't have the 6 noisy fans that the Pioneer does
I use mine for my retro gaming needs and sold my XM29.
the only downsides to these are that you can damage the display with burn in if you are not careful.
it doesn't scale the image so some older systems like snes and megadrive may not fill the entire screen.
and they have quite noticeable image retention, fortunately it doesn't hang around for long but you will see it when changing images
it saved me lots of space being able to hang it on the wall rather than the great hulking XM29 lol

I wonder if it could replace my old Virtua Cop 3 deluxe tired projector screen ? I fear it's a bit small (original is 50").
Where are you in the Neitherlands ?

I have a 46" widescreen TV in my Maze of the Kings deluxe. It was the largest screen I could fit inside. So a 4:3 picture is around 37" on it. I think the size is fine and the picture quality is way better than on the old projector screen.

Still figuring out the shipping, but @Derick2k and myself have a good idea about the costs involved.

Need to pack and weigh it for the exact costs as there is quite a difference if the package is 10cm more or less...
