Sega Daytona USA Mega Adapter Installation Help

Ok I'm back! So ive gotten my player 2 cabinet up and running successfully :) I am at the point where I can now link them together! I assume I need to connect both pc with a lan cable? How do I make them a pair?

Ok I will get myself a network switch give this a try this weekend. I will let you know how it goes!

So I got myself a new network switch and set it up. I think ive installed this mostly correct but I can't get the cabinets to link. I know the network is working because I transferred a picture from one pc to the other pc.

When I try to start Daytona the player 1 will boot but player 2 will not. If I unplug the player 2 LAN cable player 1 will just sit idle doing it's network checking. When I plug the cable in player 1 will boot. Player 2 never does and when I exit the game I get this error.

When you say "set the network configuration of each emulator in the "Multi" folders of Racecab/Emulators folder of cab 2" How do I do that? I don't see what I should be doing. I think this is the step I am missing

The m2lagfix error you get can come from several things, I think it's easier to put Model 2 games aside for the moment, as M2lagfix patch is involved in addition to emulator and windows network config, and need Jumbo Frames to be enabled (read this : https://github.com/njz3/BFF_gameassets/tree/dd185d82ea3829033a4d99a65767b3a4739778cc/image_njz3 )

Focus on Supermodel or TeknoParrot first, it will be easier.

By "set the network configuration of each emulator in the "Multi" folders of Racecab/Emulators folder of cab 2" I mean opening to supermodel.ini in Supermodel LINK folder for example, and set the address of the current cab and the adress of the "other" cab, iirc.
For TP, launch TP, select a game and set the network properties in the GUI

Ok it's been a couple weeks but I finally got a chance to take another stab at this. I have successfully gotten supermodel to link! It definitely wasn't as easy as I had hoped but it's working now. I will attempt teknoparrot next when I get some time. Still no go on model 2 link but im probably missing a detail somewhere.

Having fun playing some linked racing finally! I have all the supermodel games configured and working well. :)

I know it's a big ask but if it's not too much trouble could you possibly do another tutorial video on setting up a link for model 2 or show me what I need to change? Im not sure if I'm missing something with setting config files or another step in the process. Im sure it would be a great help to other like me who need a little more direction.

I have temporarily renamed m2lagfix to stop it from trying to boot while I figure out but it still won't link 2 cabs. I see that has config settings as well and I did mess with them but got no link. Perhaps if you showed me all your settings I can learn from that. I don't have any clear videos to follow unfortunately so it would be a great help. I plan to mess with teknoparrot but I already have these questions regarding model 2 so thought Id ask.

I will look into that link when I get a chance. Thanks id appreciate it! If i can make any progress beforehand I will report back.

@Darksoft It's pretty incredible once its working properly and I plan to convert several more myself! If i got it Im sure someone such as yourself can get it going much easier!

I forgot to mention a bunch of the raw thrills games are working too! :) And to answer a question i had earlier in the thread my outrun rom dipswitches had the game set to sitdown moving cabinet. I changed it to upright and problem I had with the steering wheel cranking to the side and staying is now solved.

Ok I checked out njz's model 2 files and have now linked model 2 games! So that means Daytona is finally working as it should! :)

I have one more issue though I keep getting a m2lagfix error on the player 2 cab. The game will boot after clearing the error message but I can't seem to figure this part out. If I could see how you have your m2lagfix link files set for player 1 and 2 I would really appreciate it. I know im doing something wrong but I almost got it!

Hey again. It would also help to know what you have set in the emulator.ini and m2network folders as well if that's OK too! Also are your jumbo frames set to 9014 (highest) in the settings?

If I set it to what I "think" is correct only the player 1 cab boots and the player 2 cab stays in the initial network boot screen and just stays flashing. If I disable player 2 cab m2lagfix.exe it will boot both player 1 and 2 (shows error that it cant find m2lagfix) and link them together but I have the flickering car issue in player 2.

Did you use the daytonathrottle.exe that sailorsat made to solve this? Im trying to make sense of it all but it would help if I could reference a working cab to start.

Im going to mess with it a bit more today and see if I can get things sorted but would definitely appreciate some help here if possible!

I got the m2lagfix sorted! I had a couple port numbers that were wrong and now im good there! Wow this has been a project and learning experience! 😄 I am going to now try and get this Daytonathrottle.exe in order to cure the flickering. If this works I'll be pretty excited. I still have to link up a bunch more games but it seems Im over the hump

Well done! Congratulations :)
You're looking deeper than I ever did.
It would be great to have some kind of summary of the traps to avoid, if you have time for that.
I don't even know about Daytonathrottle, could you tell me more about it please? :)

I definitely intend to share my experience here once I can get everything sorted. From what I understand throttle is a simple program that loops into the m2network to change the latency and correct the flickering. I just haven't figured out how to apply it yet. I read a post from sailorsat that there is a possibility of a 1.1d release that will address this issue so keeping fingers crossed 🤞
