Silly question about Namco ES1

I would use the continuity test / diode check on a multimeter. Put one test lead on the +5V input on CN1, then use the other test lead to check the pins on 40-pin connector. You will hear a beep when you have found the +5V outputs. Do the same with ground.

I think I got that, that only about female and male of plug ...

Correct.

Thanks for that, that's also help me learn about the pinout set on the control lever :D

Today, I took sometime to assemble a button setup which build with some materials from my arduino kit ( you may laungh on this :) )
But apparently that's didn't work, I think that maybe a cable issue.

For now, I think I will wait to get the projector and see what's going on first.
I somehow tried to bid the projector from Y!auction JP and waiting for the shipment now,
and I can foresee that may take few months for importing it to europe if I go for the cheapest plan:saint:

If the game can process further and booting into the actual game, I will then starting to buy crimping tools, cable, connector head, so on for making a proper control.
Damn, I really want to see the game running again.

I hope I can still have your help at that time, much appreciate your help so far, that really make a dumb like me learn a lot:thumbup:

btw. In mean time, I now look at the openjvs and IONA, so If I eventually can't get the control lever work, hope these things can be an alternative solution.
Back in the day,I should wait for someone sell a full set of control (necessary cable and pedall) rather then just buy a set of lever, just too dumb I am...

For the projector check, you could probably spoof it with an edid emulator. However, for that to work you would need to copy the edid from a projector. Catch 22.

Hi nem,

I just received the projector and tried to plug it in, unfortunately, the game still show "NG" when doing projector check.

So I had plugged a serial cable and hdmi plugged to the projector and connect them to com port and DVI port which on ES1,
the projector can boot up by the ES1 after it turned on for few mins (the projector will start from red light then it turn green after a while),
I assume the serial cable was work fine and the video cable work fine also.

I then tried to swap different com port and boot the game but have same result.

Do you have any idea what causing this issue? much appreciate

I start to think that maybe the serial cable or the DVI cable causing the issue since the serial I bought it on amazon but some said which actually not fully functional , so I am planning to order new set of cable to try again.

However, when I try searching for the serial cable, seem quite hard to find a proper one, some of them were discontinued or seem not for this usage, for example:

1. C2G cable, mitsubishi compatible but discontinued
https://www.cablestogo.com/cables/p...jector-cable-mitsubishi-compatible/p/cg-38538

2. this one said convert from rs-232 to rs-422, so the pin set should be different, so I think this also not for this case

So I really hope one of your guys give me some advise where can I find a replacement RS-232 cable or how I build one by myself,
here I attached a pinout from Mach storm maunal and I think they should be using a same cable on Bond of the battlefield:

Really Really appreciate for any advise on this. :saint:

Sorry, I have no idea. I don't have own any of this hardware. I was thinking it was just a simple EDID check, but I guess it isn't.

I would think RS-232 uses a standard pinout.

No problem mate, thanks:)

anyway I just order another cable seem for projector usage and also try learning how to craft a RS232 cable as Plan B.

I just hope the issue was not about the specific projector was married to the ES1 since I know that kizuna also using another Toshiba model of projector :writer:

I only now looked at the picture and saw that it terminates to a minidin-8 on the projector end. Yeah, that pinout could be anything.

you mean the pinout will not have a standard to follow?

Yes, if you search for RS232 minidin-8 pinout, all of the examples will be different.
