Does the Chihiro system use a separate battery or NVRAM to store settings/high scores from the battery that is used in the netbooting/memory retention system?

I ask because as most of you know, I have an Outrun 2 that I netbook Outrun 2 Special Tours... I also have setup a power supply/UPS system that replaced the usual battery for the netbooting system...

Oddly... while my actual data (the Outrun 2 Special Tours code/data) is retained lately... my actual SETTINGS and HIGH SCORES are being lost if I power the machine down for more than a couple hours.

Based on this fact, I can only assume there is some other battery in the system for settings/high score retention? If so, where do I look and what type of battery am I looking at?

EDIT: Now that I am thinking about it. I seem to recall a coin battery on the main board... I'm guessing that little bugger has gone bad on me.

I don't know if this helps with your questions, but IIRC OR2SP stores some data in the DIMM memory (backed up with the DIMM retention battery) and not on the base board (button cell battery), whereas OR2 vanilla stores most of its data on the base board. That would make me think if you're DIMM retention system is working, then you'd be keeping your high scores on OR2SP, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I can confirm that the coin cell battery was down to 1.92V... it's been replaced and DID re-boot with settings and a high score after about an hour. We'll see tomorrow...

I suspect that if the settings / time / etc get reset, it resets the high score board regardless of where the HS data is stored.
